GEORGE NEWS - The first phase of sales at Arbour Nature Estate, a luxury estate in Heather Park, was launched this morning, Thursday 12 October.
David Cohen, a director of Signatura, the high-end property developer from Cape Town, said they had taken their time to get to know "the fabric" of the property with its beautiful mountain views, and how the natural beauty and resources could best be incorporated into the development.
This is Signatura's fifth project in the Garden Route and the third one in George.
Cohen said it is a pleasure to do business in George. It is a great place with nice people, and the municipality renders consistent services, which makes it attractive for developers and draws new residents.
"We are excited about the future of the town."
Construction of the first phase, that will comprise 35 homes, will start early in 2024 with occupation of the first units in April 2025.
The estate will be developed in eight phases as sales dictate. In total it will provide 84 individual houses and 95 apartments in two apartment blocks.
The property has lovely views of the mountain, which was mostly covered by low clouds this morning. The development will provide a total of 84 individual houses and 95 apartments in two apartment blocks.
A marquee tent was erected at the sales office on the Arbour Nature Estate property that is located behind Homewood.
George Mayor Leon van Wyk complimented Signatura on the launch of the development, saying that it is a welcome contribution to George's growth and economy, and the municipality's efforts to make it the best intermediate city in the country. "I believe it (the project) is going to be a great success and we wish you all the best here in taking the process forward."
Van Wyk said the municipality tries to be open and talk to as many people as possible in an effort to facilitate and enable development.
"That is why we are so excited about what Signatura is doing here. We are also seeing a number of other developments taking place within the same residential space as Signatura that are helping to open up that market. One of the areas we still need to move into is the R800 000 to R1,2-R1,3 million market.
"That is where we need additional housing. We live in an environment where salaries are probably not at the level of Cape Town or Johannesburg and we need to cater for that."
