GEORGE NEWS - A group of students from South Cape College gathered at the George Police Station this morning, where they reportedly lodged a complaint against college management.
According to one of the students, who wished to remain anonymous, the college management entered into rental agreements in the students' names for accommodation at a hotel in Wilderness, without their permission.
From the police station the group walked back to the college campus in Hibernia Street, where they attend class.
They were gathered outside the college building when George Herald arrived and said they were awaiting feedback from student representatives who were in consultation with college management on behalf of the group.
The anonymous student said they are a group of about 50-80 students who already have existing accommodation in George who did not agree to move to Wilderness.
However, they are waiting for funding to be paid out from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to pay their current landlords. Their rental is due by 25 August.
The newspaper has reached out to the college management for comment, as well as the police to confirm whether a complaint has been filed. Their responses are being awaited.
