ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - After entertaining George audiences last year, ventriloquist Conrad Koch returns to the George Arts Theatre on Friday 14 August with his award-winning show, Chester's Got Talent.
This time, the spotlight falls on Koch's colourful cast of puppets in a talent competition in which the audience decides who deserves to be crowned the winner.
The show features familiar favourites, including Chester Missing, Gunter the German mosquito, Hilton the dramatic ostrich, DJ Hoodie, Mr Dixon the high school teacher, George the crocodile and a surprise guest performer.
The production recently received a Gold Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda - one of only two productions to receive this honour from more than 240 shows presented at the festival.
Q&A with Chester Missing
When asked how he manages to put up with Koch and the other puppets, Chester Missing replied with his usual confidence: "I am the star of the show! Those other puppets are wannabe celebs who don't have the fan base I have. I literally have to share a suitcase with dummies. The only way there could be more puppets in here with me is if I went into politics!"
George Herald wanted to know why Chester wants to return to George.
"I love doing comedy in George! The audiences are always so lekker, and I can't wait for my fans to see this show!" he replied.
Asked about his greatest talent, Chester said: "I am hilarious and say it like it is. It makes it awkward for Conrad, but I don't care."
The family-friendly performance starts at 19:30 on Friday. Tickets are R150 on Webtickets.
Koch will perform at Knysna Gin on Saturday 15 August and at In Toto Retreat in Sedgefield on Sunday 16 August.
