Badgers remain in semi-final hunt ahead of Boland clash

OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Garden Route Badgers will be looking to extend their winning streak when they take on Dafabet Boland in their next YesPlay Pro20 Cup Super 8 encounter on Saturday 7 November.

The match at Boland Park in Paarl will get under way at 13:00. Boland will head into the clash on the back of an impressive victory after recording their third Super Over win of the season against Dafabet Warriors at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Thursday evening, 5 November.

The Badgers, meanwhile, will be without the services of Modise Maloka, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Despite the setback, coach Lotle Sesele remains confident that his side can maintain its winning momentum.

Janneman Malan continues to be one of the competition’s standout performers. With 319 runs at an average of 45.57 and a strike rate of 115, he is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the competition, behind Multiply Titans’ Luandré Pretorius, who has amassed 453 runs.

Young bowling prospect Leo Sadler is also making his mark, sharing the top spot among the competition’s leading wicket-takers with Thomas Kaber of the Warriors. Both bowlers have claimed 13 wickets.

Despite currently occupying sixth position on the log, the Badgers remain firmly in contention for a place in the semi-finals, with two Super 8 matches still to be played by each team.

The standings after seven matches are as follows:
• DP World Lions: 19 points
• Dafabet Boland: 16 points
• Dafabet Warriors: 16 points
• YesPlay Cobras: 11 points
• Multiply Titans: 10 points
• Garden Route Badgers: 8 points
• Hollywoodbets Dolphins: 7 points
• WSB Eastern Storm: 0 points.

A positive result against Boland could prove crucial in the Badgers’ push for a semi-final berth as the Super 8 competition enters its decisive stages.
