GEORGE NEWS - Women's Month got off to an inspiring start on Saturday 1 August with an informative and much-enjoyed morning tea co-ordinated by the National Professional Teachers' Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) in collaboration with Wild Mongoo and Cansa George.
Attendees had the chance to relax, reconnect with themselves and celebrate the strength of women. Through a series of presentations, the facilitators encouraged women to prioritise their physical, emotional and mental well-being.
Cansa George presented an informative session on female cancers, highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screenings and recognising warning signs.
Participants also received women's cancer awareness pamphlets to share with their families and communities, as well as pink face cloths as a symbolic reminder to prioritise self-care.
The programme also featured fun activities, lucky draws, a light lunch and lovely gift bags. Women from various professions, including teachers, life coaches and social workers, attended.
"The morning reminded us that beneath every title is a woman of strength, resilience and purpose. No matter the role we fulfil or the hat we wear, we are beautiful women, born with purpose, worthy of love, and we are enough," said Cansa social worker Natalie Speelman.
