Confirmed to arrive in Europe early next year, the smallest model in Audi’s Q-line-up differs subtly from the standard S line equipped model aesthetically, with changes consisting out of an eight-slot take on the Singleframe grille, standard LED headlights, a new front splitter, wider dual air inlets on the flanges of the front bumper, LED taillights with dynamic indictors, quad exhaust outlets integrated into the rear diffuser, aluminium-look mirror caps and 18-inch alloy wheels with 19s available as an option.
While no interior images were oddly provided, Audi has indicated that the SQ2 comes with sports seats trimmed in leather or cloth as standard, along with matte brushed aluminium inserts, S branded illuminated door sills, a black headliner, stainless pedals, black leather upholstery and a multi-function steering wheel.
Available from the options list though is Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit Display instrument cluster with S specific graphics, nappa leather and Alcantara seats with S headrests and red/grey stitching, Heads-Up Display system, a flat-bottomed steering wheel with gear shift paddles, a ten colour ambient lighting pack and anodised red detailing.
Sitting 20mm closer to the ground than the regular Q2 and boasting not only revised steering but also updated brakes with the discs at the front measuring 340mm and the rears 310mm, motivation for the SQ2 comes from the same 2.0 TFSI engine as the S3, albeit detuned to produce 220kW/400Nm.
Mated to a seven-speed S tronic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, Audi claims that the SQ2 will complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds, and reach a limited top speed of 250km/h.
Despite being confirmed for Europe as mentioned, Audi South Africa is yet to confirm SQ2 availability.
