GEORGE NEWS - York High School's learners recently concluded a series of animal welfare lessons for the Grade Threes of Conville Primary School, as part of the school's outreach programme aimed at promoting responsible pet care in the community.
During the sessions, the young learners were introduced to important topics such as animal illnesses and the importance of sterilisation, helping them understand how to care for and protect their pets.
The York learners also assisted the Grade Threes in creating colourful animal masks, adding a fun and creative element to the lessons.
The programme wrapped up with the distribution of some soup jars prepared by York's Class of 2026 during their Matric Challenge.
They were aided with the preparation of the jars by the members of the school's Animal Club, who supported the initiative.
The final lesson of the programme took place on 3 March.
Looking ahead, the Animal Club plans to launch a new course aimed at older learners. The Grade Sevens of Conville Primary are set to become the first group to take part in the pilot programme.
