GEORGE NEWS - The Gift of the Givers Foundation (GOTG) stood true to its name after the flash floods that hit George on Monday 22 November.
GOTG handed out much-needed plastic sheeting, food, blankets and pet food to flood victims.
On Friday 26 November, nurses and staff of the Harry Comay TB Hospital in Conville were blessed with Woolworths food hampers and blankets, after which GOTG coordinator Ali Sablay and his team went to Thembalethu to deliver plastic sheeting for structures identified by the George municipality.
Thoughtful of animals that are also in need, they delivered dog food, cat food and blankets at the Garden Route SPCA and Odin.
They also assisted victims in Oudtshoorn.
"We have been on the ground since day one. We immediately supplied bulk food to 60 soup kitchens. We delivered close to 1 000 blankets, food hampers, water and plastic sheeting to communities in distress. We are on standby for any other areas that need help and will remain in contact with the relevant authorities," said Sablay.
He thanked the police for their assistance and cooperation by availing space for logistical operations and storage at the Eden Cluster offices in George.
