GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Cash Converters George opened only recently, on Friday 16 October, but already it has managed to run a fundraiser in aid of George Child Welfare.
During the process of setting up the store in October, various people donated Christmas decorations and many said they have too much and wanted to get rid of them.
"This sparked an idea and in no time we had divided the decorations into packets selling for R20 or R30 each so that we could donate the proceeds to Child Welfare," says store owner Vera Valasis.
"We are very grateful to our customers as well as Cash Converters head office who all contributed handsomely to the cause and we managed to pay R5 000 to Child Welfare.
"We are very proud of our supporters who made it possible for us to lend a helping hand at this time of year."
She says Cash Converters George looks forward to getting entrenched in the local community, lending support and making ongoing contributions where they are most needed.
"We are really keen to support the local community and have made this one of our key success factors. It seems our customers have the same passion for giving back, so we are confident in being able to grow our support with the participation of our regular customer base," says Valasis.
Cash Converters George is also embarking on a charity drive to support needy children with some school requisites for January 2021.
"We would like to wish our customers well over the holidays and safe travels for those on the roads - see you in our store soon."
