GEORGE NEWS - Local filmmakers and creatives are being given the chance to step into the spotlight as Ingrid Nuss Fine Art and Vault Media announce a call for submissions for the inaugural Lumin Essence Short Film Festival.
The festival, set at the Timberlake Village between Wilderness and Sedgefield from 16:00 to 22:00 on 25 April, is part of an evening celebrating local culture.
Alongside the film screenings, visitors can enjoy a benefit auction, an art exhibition and live music, making it a true showcase of George’s creative talent.
The festival’s theme, ‘What Lights You Up?’, invites filmmakers to explore their personal passions and share what inspires them.
The organisers are looking for short films that tell a story, spark curiosity or simply make audiences feel something positive. The theme allows for broad creative interpretation, giving participants plenty of room to shine.
Submission details
Aspiring filmmakers should take note of the following requirements to ensure their work is eligible:
• Duration: 3 to 7 minutes
• Quality: 4K resolution or higher
• Format: Landscape orientation
• Audio: Submissions must include sound
• Cost: Entry is free.
How to enter
There are only six to eight screening slots available, so early submissions are encouraged. The final deadline for entries is Monday 2 March.
Submissions must be sent as a downloadable link to [email protected].
Prizes and voting
The festival is more than a showcase. It’s a competition. On the night, audiences will vote for their favourite films, and prizes will be awarded to the top three. While attendance is not strictly required to win, the organisers note that being there in person is “preferred and favoured”.
Enquiries: email [email protected] or call 072 647 2127.
WATCH: The Garden Route is getting its own short-film festival, and the call has gone out for amateur filmmakers to submit their own short films.
