GEORGE NEWS - Two budding junior swimmers from the Royal Swimming Academy (RSA), Matthew Seabrook and Tammy Greenwood, were crowned junior victor and victrix ludorum respectively at the 2018 Eden Aquatics Short Course Championships.
Not only did these athletes receive the fabulous accolades, but the squad who qualified to partake in the event boasted the highest average number of medals per swimmer per club by more than 26% and 40% against other local clubs.
The academy's junior swimmers also came out on top, with some breaking Eden District short course records.
RSA coach, Mimette Salter, said the RSA swimmers have outdone themselves and she is blessed to be a part of their lives and who they are in the water. "I am super proud of the hard work of all of my swimmers this weekend in the water."
The following records were broken:
- Girls age 8: Katelynn Boonzaaier 100m backstroke
- Boys age 10: Kodi Minnie 200m and 400m freestyle
- Girls age 12: Tammy Greenwood 200m backstroke and 800m freestyle
- Boys age 17: Sergio Dos Santos 200m fly
Established in 2014, the Royal Swimming Academy now has over 160 swimmers from beginner / learn-to swim, through to masters. With four coaches, the club continues to grow from strength to strength and has swimmers competing regionally, nationally and internationally.
