While already seen in the vicinity of the Nürburgring undergoing testing, a slew of new details posted by the bimmerpost blog has alleged that BMW will stick with the CS moniker for the M2 instead of reviving the CSL name, and that it will feature a carbon fibre roof, black Alcantara/leather as the sole interior option, an optional Alcantara trimmed steering wheel and a choice of four colours; Alpine White, Hockenheim Silver, Black Sapphire and Misano Blue.
More crucially though, the post claims that the CS will produce 450 PS or 331kW, exactly the same as the outgoing M4/M3 Competition Pack, and more than the 298kW initially reported. Likely to be powered by its departing sibling’s 3.0-litre turbocharged engine, the CS will have the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or the optional seven-speed M DCT, with a further option, as evident by the prototype, being carbon ceramic brakes.
Expect more details to emerge in the coming months.
