Simply titled the 60 Years Edition, the model comes with unique touches such as 17-inch alloy wheels with a specific 60 Years two-tone spoke design, a Black or Pepper White contrasting roof and mirror caps, special stripes, 60 Year badging on the side vents, inside the indicators and on the door sills, and a choice of five colours; Lapisluxury Blue, Melting Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Moonwalk Grey Metallic and the iconic British Racing Green IV launch hue.
Inside, the additions are less dramatic and includes a sports steering wheel, sports leather seats and an exclusive Dark Maroon finish. As the per the 60 Years take on the optional Chili package, notable equipment now standard are LED headlights, automatic air-conditioning, ambient interior lighting, rain sense wipers and the Mini Driving Mode selector with three settings; Green, Comfort and Sport.
No changes have taken place underneath the bonnet where the 60 Years will be based on the Cooper and Cooper S models, as well as the oil-burning Cooper D and Cooper SD marketed in Europe. BMW South Africa has meanwhile confirmed that the 60 Years Edition will become available locally this year, but with pricing still to be announced.
