SOCCER NEWS - Thembalethu High School's U15 boys claimed the Dreamfield Roy McAlpine Cup after defeating Jonga High 9-8 on penalties following a goalless final at the Imizamo Yethu High School sports grounds on 25 July.

The closely fought contest saw both teams creating scoring opportunities, but neither could find the breakthrough before the match was decided in a dramatic penalty shoot-out. 

Thembalethu held their nerve to secure the title, capping a successful tournament for the George schools, which dominated the boys' football compe-tition.

Mossel Bay's schools, meanwhile, claimed two netball titles and individual honours.

George's high schools impressed throughout the tournament, eliminating strong contenders, including Indwe, Imizamo Yethu and Hillcrest, on their route to the final.

Jonga High's Prince Nonkumbana was named the U15 boys' player of the tournament. This midfielder produced outstanding performances throughout the competition, controlling play in midfield and creating numerous attacking opportunities for his side.

In the U15 netball competition, Indwe High's Zona Ntetha earned the player of the tournament award after delivering consistently impressive performances during the festival, rounding off another successful edition of the Dreamfield tournament.
