The French hypercar maker has unveiled the Chiron Sport, which, instead of receiving more power, has been made better in the handling department and shaved some 18kgs from its kerb weight. The improvements come as a result of stiffer shock absorbers, recalibrated steering, a re-worked rear-differential with Dynamic Torque Vectoring and the use of lighter alloy wheels and a more liberal use of carbon fibre. Subtle the changes might be, but the brand claims that the Sports laps the Nardò handling circuit in the south of Italy five seconds faster than the ‘standard’ Chiron.
Visually, the Sport gets a new wheel design and a four-pipe exhaust deflector while up front there’s the number ‘16’ painted into the grille, indicating the number of cylinders in the motor. The basic price of the Bugatti Chiron Sport is €2.65 million (R38.5 million) while customers can opt or the optional colour and trim package allowing customers to individually tailor the sporty appearance of their Chiron Sport. All customers who’ve placed their orders will receive their cars towards the end of 2018.
