She was introduced by Dr Francois du Toit, a local registered naturopath, who had invited Creed to George. Creed is one of the co-authors, with Professor Tim Noakes, Jonno Proudfoot and David Grier, of the best seller The Real Meal Revolution, which has taken South Africa by storm. A total of
150 000 English copies have already been sold and more than 30 000 Afrikaans copies. Not only has it been awarded 2013 best seller, but is also the best seller in the history of South Africa.
Creed explained that the goal of The Real Meal Revolution is changing lives by teaching people how to take charge of their health and weight through the way they eat. It advocates "returning to man's dietary roots, eating real (unprocessed, organic) food, bringing you back to the way humans are meant to eat and returning your body and mind back to the trim, happy, energised state our ancestors experienced thousands of years ago. They didn't suffer from obesity, diabetes, coronary heart disease and other lifestyle illnesses as many of us do today".
Creed went to great lengths to point out how much (often hidden) sugar humans consume every day. "At the beginning of the 20th century, obesity, diabetes and heart disease were uncommon. The amount of sugar that humans ate was also much less - about 4kg per person per year. Now it is closer to 50kg per person per year."
She pointed out that sugar, not fat, is the most toxic ingredient of the modern diet.
At the end of her talk the audience was eager to ask questions.
A few were sceptical, but many reported that the Tim Noakes Diet helped them lose a considerable amount of weight and improved their health.
