GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The entry process for the ninth running of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb from 3 to 6 May 2018 is open.

This is the earliest in the event’s history, being a month earlier than for this year's event, and stems from the huge demand for places on the starting grid. 

With participants limited to 64 for Classic Car Friday and 84 cars for the King of the Hill category, it is sure to be oversubscribed as was the case for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Hillclimbs.

The 2018 event’s entry procedure has changed from a two-stage process this year to a single-stage process.

Prospective competitors are invited to register their expression of interest at www.jaguarsimolahillclimb.com until the entries closing date of 26 January.

These will be duly considered by the organisers who will then issue an invitation to compete to successful applicants by no later than 9 February.

In determining which competitors make the final cut, the organisers consider a number of factors, the overriding consideration being what is best for the event as a whole.

The format will be like the 2017 event, with Classic Car Friday for older cars competing on the Friday and individual King of the Hill titles for the three main types of competing vehicles on Saturday and Sunday.

As introduced for the first time this year, King of the Hill will consist of road-going saloons and supercars, single-seaters and sports cars, and modified saloons. 

Each category will carry the same level of importance and stature.

Jaguar’s partnership over the past four years has helped lift the event to a new level, resulting in a record crowd of more than 15 800 attending the event in May this year.

General entry, pit and hospitality tickets will go on sale in November.
