Update
GEORGE NEWS - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has decided to drop the case against the 13 suspects arrested in 2015 in connection with the torching of four GO GEORGE buses during violent anti-GO GEORGE protests on 19 August.
The violence resulted in damage amounting to R15-million. The suspects were all involved in the local taxi industry in George.
The case was struck off the roll on Friday 3 August, but the investigation will be reopened should new information come to light. The reason for the NPA’s withdrawal of the charges is being awaited.
