GEORGE NEWS - Not even lockdown will prevent the York High Animal Club from caring for pets in need. This dedicated group of animal lovers, who work to educate themselves and others about animals and their needs, continue to work with the support of the Garden Route SPCA in these trying times.
"We have approximately 60 animals whose owners we support and advise in order to improve the quality of everyone's lives," said York High teacher and organiser of the animal club, Hayley Keyser, in a Facebook post last week. "Lockdown did not stop the need and we need help to continue helping those who can't speak for themselves."
The animal club wants to continue to do what they do best, but they need donations.
Any food donations for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies, deworming pills for adult dogs, tick and flea treatment (like Nexgard or Bravecto), collars, blankets or anything else you might think will assist them, will be welcomed with open arms. With the winter on our doorstep the animal club is also in need of sponsors for kennels.
Medium kennels cost R200 and large kennels R300. The kennels are made for the animal club using old conveyor belts, so they are extremely durable - perfect to protect pets from the cold and rain. For more information or to donate towards their cause, please contact Hayley Keyser on 072 204 9788.
