GEORGE NEWS - The parents of a teenager of Protea Park are crushed after the murder of their 16-year-old daughter in their home on Saturday night, 27 April.
"She was a friendly child who got along with everyone. She loved singing and dancing. I do not have words to describe how much I love her. She was my all. My only daughter has been plucked from me and no words can describe the hurt," Geonique Pieterse's mother, Loretta Raubenheimer, told George Herald.
Geonique was a learner of Van Kervel School.
Her body was found on Sunday morning, 28 April, by her young brother and cousin on her bed in her parents' home in Park Street.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said the police was summoned to the scene on Sunday morning at about 11:00.
"The victim was declared dead on the scene by paramedics," said Spies.
According to information, there were signs of a struggle, but the victim had not suffered any obvious wounds. The exact cause of her death will be determined by means of a post mortem examination.
Raubenheimer said she was at a work event on the evening of the incident and Geonique was home alone. She apparently went out with friends and the incident happened shortly after she had returned home.
At the time of going to print no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
Geonique leaves behind her mother, father Geoffrey Saus, stepfather Marlow Raubenheimer, three brothers, two grandmothers and two grandfathers.
The date of her burial had not yet been confirmed at the time of going to print, but it is tentatively being planned for Saturday.
