GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The razor-sharp wit and brilliant showmanship of ventriloquist Conrad Koch had the audience at the George Arts Theatre roaring with laughter last week Friday, 8 August.
Armed with two enormous suitcases stuffed with colourful characters, this world-class performer kept the crowd entertained for a full 75 minutes - and not a second passed without a chuckle.
Each puppet sprang to life with its own unique personality and quirky accent: Chester Missing, the political commentator, Hilton, the life-of-the-party ostrich, Gunter, a lovestruck German mosquito dating a bee, Mr Dixon, the straight-talking high school teacher, Gordon Ratsy, a flamboyant French chef, and DJ Hoodie, who brought his own brand of cool to the stage.
Koch has an uncanny gift for reading a crowd and weaving them into the fun.
Before long, we weren't just watching the show, we were in it, becoming the butt of the jokes and even joining the list of characters ourselves.
Those who interacted with Koch were great sports, playing along for the fun - teachers, retirees, a financial officer, a credit provider, municipal officials - even a spokesperson for a mayor!

In one particularly hilarious moment, the credit provider in the front row was manipulated into a T-Rex costume, and allowed Koch to 'pull the strings'.
What silly fun we had, laughing at one another and with one another - a perfect tonic for whatever else is happening in our wonderfully weird country.
Meet Gordon Ratsy, a flamboyant French chef.
