GEORGE NEWS - The participants in the Pacaltsdorp Kickboxing Club tournament on Saturday impressed with their talent, from the youngest little fighter to the more senior ones, who demonstrated discipline and courage on the fighting mats.
It was the first tournament in 33 years to be hosted by Pacaltsdorp Kickboxing and the club is pleased with bagging 11 first and six second places.
The event was held at the Pacaltsdorp Civic Centre on Saturday 3 August, drawing six visiting clubs. "We are very satisfied with a successful tournament," said Carl Brink, the organiser.
A total of 90 kickboxers from Gqeberha, Graaff-Reinet, Cape Town's Junxion Kickboxing, Mayhem Martial Arts George, JLS Legends, Scorpions Martial Academy in George and the Pacaltsdorp club were in action.
"The mission of this tournament was to promote physical, mental and ethical development among youngsters.
"Every time they take part, they gain valuable experience and build their skills. We are happy with the wonderful turnout and would like to praise the fighters for the excellent way in which they conducted themselves.
"It obviously requires discipline and courage to go out onto the floor for every fight you face. There was a lot of talent among the fighters," said Brink.
He thanked the sponsrs, George Municipality and other sponsors, De Dekke Spar, OIG Fencing, Rhodes, Pick n Pay Pacaltsdorp and AFK Marshall and Sons.
