SOCCER - The Black Cats delivered a dominant performance in the Safa Eden Regional League, thrashing the Infantry School side 5-0 over the weekend to continue their impressive run in the competition.
The home side took control early after Infantry kicked off the proceedings, building from the right flank.
Nkosiyabo Toto opened the score to give the Cats a 1-0 lead, immediately putting pressure on the visitors' defence.
Infantry struggled to respond, and Dinilethu Hermans doubled the advantage following a breakthrough from midfield. Mphumzi Kalolo added a third goal shortly before half-time, sending the Cats into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.
In the second half, the Cats maintained their attacking intensity, applying pressure down the flanks. Infantry's Luxolo Nyaka came close to reducing the deficit, striking the woodwork with a long-range effort, but the visitors were unable to convert their chances.
Mthembu Mandla extended the lead to 4-0 as the Cats grew in confidence.
Playmaker Oyisa Jantjies stood out with a strong performance, creating numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match. As the game drew to a close, Keathon van Rooyen sealed the emphatic victory with a fifth goal.
Despite a late push from Infantry School, the Black Cats' defence remained solid, denying any consolation goal.
The result sees Infantry remaining on 29 points after 20 matches, still contesting a top-eight position, while the Cats move up to 36 points from 21 games, strengthening their push for a higher league standing.
