GEORGE NEWS - The two men accused of attacking a father and son with a panga in Krogh Street, Bocherds, last month will now face attempted murder charges.
The incident occurred at about 17:30 when the 25-year-old allegedly went to the area to look for his girlfriend.
An altercation then broke out involving the woman's brother, her uncle and the two victims. The incident caused the 57-year-old father's hand to be amputated, and his 25-year-old son was seriously injured. The 24-year-old suspect also sustained a stab wound during the altercation.
According to the Southern Cape Police's spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, both victims have since been discharged from hospital and are recovering at home.
The Conville detectives arrested Jayson Rynders and Denver Ryters on Sunday 23 August in connection with the attack a week earlier.
They remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate's Court today, Thursday 10 September, for a formal bail application.
