GEORGE NEWS – Two men have been arrested in connection with a panga attack that left a father (57) with an amputated hand and his son (25) seriously injured in Bocherds last week.
Conville detectives arrested the two suspects, a 24-year-old and his 45-year-old uncle, on Sunday 23 August in connection with the attack in Krogh Street a week earlier.
The suspects are currently being processed and are expected to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court once charged. They are facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, both victims have since been discharged from hospital and are recovering at home. The older victim unfortunately lost his hand during the attack.
The incident occurred at about 17:30 when the 25-year-old victim allegedly went to the area to look for his girlfriend.
An altercation broke out involving the woman’s brother, her uncle and the two victims.
The 24-year-old suspect also sustained a stab wound during the altercation.
