GEORGE NEWS - Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead of a four-hour closure of the N2 between the Garden Route Mall and the Kraaibosch roundabout on Tuesday night, 27 October.
The affected section will be completely closed to traffic in both directions from 23:00 on Tuesday until 03:00 on Wednesday 28 October.
The closure is necessary to allow for the installation of a 33m overhead portal gantry across the highway. The structure will be lifted into position as a single unit, making it unsafe for vehicles to pass underneath during the operation.
No alternative routes or detours will be available, and motorists are urged to avoid the area during the closure period.
Arrangements will be made to accommodate emergency services.
The project team aims to complete the work within the scheduled four hours, with traffic permitted to resume only once the road has been declared safe.
