GEORGE NEWS - An incident at a beach in Wilderness called Leentjiesklip ended in tragedy when a man was declared dead on Saturday, 24 October.
George police have opened an inquest docket following the incident at about 17:40.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Christopher Spies said emergency personnel responded to the scene.
“Three men were brought to the shore and one victim was declared deceased,” he said.
Police have not yet confirmed the deceased’s identity or the circumstances that led to the three being brought ashore.
The condition of the other two has also not been confirmed.
Spies said the scene remained active at the time of his statement and the circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated.
