HOEKWIL NEWS - A night filled with music and laughter at the Cornerstone Creek Gallery in Hoekwil, started out as complete chaos. Luckily order was quickly restored, together with my faith in humanity.
Many drivers would not have parked there, but don’t be too quick to judge. I am sure that most of us have gotten into situations – or spaces - we shouldn’t have.
But this was serious. My miscalculation resulted in my car getting stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or rather, a wall and a hill.
At this point, it (of course!) made sense to me that my little front wheel drive runaround would be perfectly capable of traversing the wet grass of the steep hill. Short answer – no.
When I eventually gave up and contemplated looking for assistance, it came to me in the form of a kind man who quickly got blocks for the back wheels - and a little help from his friends. Enter Cornerstone Creek owner Ian Visser and Jeep owner Gys Kok, who just happens to be a towing and autobody expert!
Within minutes, and with a lot of good humour, my little runaround was safely back on high ground.
The beautiful entrance to Rambling Rose.
In this world full of disconnect and looking the other way, it was lovely to be the recipient of generosity from people who are so readily willing to come to a stranger’s aid. The beautiful people at Cornerstone Creek Gallery and Rambling Rose Restaurant have given me renewed hope for human kind. And for that I am grateful. Well, for that, and of course for getting me mobile again!
All’s well that ends well
The ministrations of Rose Botha and her crew at Rambling Rose, combined with Luna Paige’s exquisite music in the picturesque chapel, ensured that the rest of my evening was idyllic.
It turned out to be a magical night in a magnificent setting, adorned with fantastic art, sultry sounds, great food and even better company.
