The Garden Route National Park has followed the good example set by the Kruger National Park in 2009, and became the second national park within SANParks to celebrate this annual International Rangers Day.
The formal proceedings of the day were held at Farleigh Community Hall in the Farleigh Forest Estate where Carl Nortier, head of the Environmental Crime Investigation unit at SANParks, delivered his keynote address.
This was followed by presentations by rangers from the different sections of the GRNP.
Practical demonstrations on squad drills and cyber-trackers were shown, and the day was concluded with friendly soccer and touch rugby matches, as well as a tug of war contest.

The Wilderness team celebrated their achievement of winning the best tug of war team title for the second year running.
