GEORGE NEWS - She's not only the youngest Station 23 Wilderness NSRI volunteer rescue crew member; Jané Botha (17) also has the courage of a lion.
This young lady will attempt a 24-hour swim in the Glenwood House swimming pool from 06:00 to 18:00 in aid of the NSRI on 21 and 22 October.
Her reason is simple - NSRI has changed her life and she wants to give back.
"I'm raising money for NSRI who does great work for a cause that's very close to my heart," she says.
"Over a year and a half ago, I joined Station 23 as trainee crew - knowing little of how much that decision would change my life forever. On that day I found my home away from home. From then on I have made endless friendships and have met the most extraordinary mentors that I'm so glad to now call family."

Botha says the organisation has completely changed her as an individual and taught her the value of teamwork and the power of unity.
"Each member of the crew brings a unique set of skills and experiences and together we form an unstoppable force. Through my journey with NSRI, I have gained resilience, sharpened my teamwork skills and discovered the immense value of community and service," she says.
The extraordinary bravery and unwavering commitment of the team saving lives at sea has left a lasting impression on Botha.
"It is in these moments that I witness ordinary people doing extraordinary things, displaying acts of bravery, selflessness, and compassion. In a world often clouded with negativity, NSRI serves as a shining example of the astounding influence that a single organisation can have on others."
