GEORGE NEWS - In a bid to enhance safety in the charming coastal town of Victoria Bay and its surroundings, AfriForum's George branch has launched the proactive Victoria Bay Neighbourhood Watch.
Established in November, this vigilant community initiative operates in close collaboration with the police and other local security agencies, in a collective effort to combat crime.
The newly appointed leadership of the neighbourhood watch comprises Gerhan Archer as the leader, PJ Maritz overseeing the operational team, Patrick Rawlins heading the information team, and Mias Strauss serving as the support team leader.
In a statement, Archer stresses the importance of a unified approach to safety, noting that the neighbourhood watch is an integral part of the broader AfriForum network.
According to Marthinus Erasmus, AfriForum's district coordinator for the Southern Cape, the organisation believes in fostering collaboration among safety stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Erasmus highlights the significance of quality training for neighbourhood watch members, emphasising the necessity of equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to make sound decisions.
Training sessions for the Victoria Bay Neighbourhood Watch are slated to commence soon.
Erasmus invites residents in and around George to actively participate in securing their communities by joining this initiative.
He encourages those interested in contributing to the safety of the area to get involved, emphasising the shared responsibility in protecting the well-being of those residing in the area.
