GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Botanical Garden Trust is pleased to announce the relaunch of the popular Garden Route Indigenous Plant Fair that will take place at the Botanical Garden from 3 to 5 November.
A large selection of indigenous plants will be for sale, with experts on hand to assist and advise on your gardening requirements. Supporting the plant sales will be food and drinks stalls, botanically themed crafts, books, a children's play area and much more.
Entrance to the botanical garden on the plant fair days will be free for all.
The members of the trust have formed a plant fair committee that is actively seeking local community participation and collaboration, as well as sponsorship.
George Municipality has shown its commitment to environmental events, as the main supporter of the event, providing value-in-kind services such as portable toilets, additional electricity connections and marketing and infrastructure support, to the value of R40 000.
Group Editors is committed as the main media sponsor. Follow the Group Editors print and online news for more information on the event.
Tourism Manager Joan Shaw says they are very pleased that this popular event is back on the calendar for George. "It not only highlights the importance of our indigenous flora but serves to educate the public on this incredible natural treasure, so unique to the region, but also provides an opportunity to purchase unusual species that may not be readily available," she says.
"I believe that there will be a spectacular range of fynbos on sale, and since I strive, both at the Tourism office and at home, to have water-wise indigenous garden, I personally cannot wait to attend."
If you wish to participate in the plant fair as a sponsor, stall holder, or simply volunteer to work at the fair, please contact Karla on 044 874 1558, or email info@botanicalgarden.org.za.
