GEORGE NEWS - The tragic drowning of a ten-year-old boy at a Lancewood Farm dam on the outskirts of Hoekwil just over a week ago was still fresh in the minds of those who attended a drowning prevention talk on Tuesday 28 February.
In the front page article last week, George Herald reported on the death of Philisande Mjoli (10) and plans to make farm children water safe.
One of the farm managers, Hennie Niehaus, who is also a member of the Operations Support Committee of the NSRI in the Southern Cape, said they have long-term plans to teach farm children from the area to swim.
Barely a week later, two NSRI members gave a drowning prevention talk at the farm.
NSRI instructor Caville Abrahams and trainee Martin Maluleke gave some useful tips and a demonstration to some 55 workers of Lancewood Farm.
