GEORGE NEWS - The George Foundation of the Arts' visual arts division received an astounding 400 entries for its South Cape Festival of the Arts for 2025 at Hoogekraal.
The adjudication process took place over the weekend. "We want to thank our adjudicators for their time and careful consideration of every participant who entered," says Tania Els, the organiser.
"With the art exhibition in full swing at the Gallery @ Hoogekraal, the public is welcome to come and view the exceptional talent displayed in artworks by learners from across the Garden Route."
This year, the exhibition and gala evening are hosted at Hoogekraal, a historical property which dates back to 1723, this weekend.
The renovations of the Jonkmans Huis on the property are under curatorship of the Hoogekraal Educational Trust, overseen by Tienie Botha.
"The trust sees itself as the keepers of the land and custodians of what belongs to future generations," says Els.
The public is invited to Hoogekraal to view the exhibition.
"The restoration at Hoogekraal Heritage provides a sound platform for sustainable communal, cultural and educational development, as well as a living historic reference.
"Hoogekraal can truly be seen as a diamond in the rough, encompassing history, art, culture and politics, among others," says Els.
