At lunch time on Wednesday, 19 February, the Municipality’s Department of Human Settlements and Land Affairs and Planning personnel moved into Erf 329 in Wilderness Heights to remove an illegal structure that was to be used as a shop. The community opposing the action barricaded the entrance to the squatter camp with tyres, logs and mattresses threatening to set it alight. Police had to protect the municipal officials while they removed the barricade.
