GEORGE NEWS - The annual Reef Hudson School Tennis Tournament was held on Friday 13 March, bringing together 22 school teams from across Eden for a day of competitive tennis and strong sportsmanship.
The matches were played across four venues.
The tournament honours Reef Hudson's legacy. Hudson, a respected figure in South African tennis, passed away several years ago, and was widely recognised for his contribution to the sport, particularly during his tenure as chairperson of the country's tennis coaches.
He was also recognised as a master coach within South African tennis circles. After moving to George, he played a significant role in developing local tennis.
Lizelle Fourie of Great Tennis Academy, who knew Hudson well, described him as an outstanding coach and a person of great character and integrity. She continues to uphold his legacy through the tournament, which the academy has hosted for the past 18 years.
This year's tournament delivered exciting matches and a strong display of team spirit. According to Fourie, the day was marked by excellent sportsmanship and enthusiastic participation from the players, teachers and supporters.

With consistent performances across both divisions, George South Primary was named the top tennis school in Eden.
