GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Cycling enthusiasts may now register for the Nedbank Gravel Burn 2026, one of South Africa's most spectacular gravel riding adventures.
Entries are open and riders from around the world are once again invited to take on this unique week-long challenge from 25 to 31 October.
The Gravel Burn has quickly become a stand-out event on the global gravel calendar. In its inaugural 2025 edition, the race began in Knysna and traversed more than 800km of mixed terrain across the Garden Route and Great Karoo, culminating in a finish at the Shamwari Private Game Reserve.
Riders experienced lush indigenous forests, remote plains and a dramatic finale surrounded by wildlife on that first run of the event.
For 2026, the route takes a slightly different shape. The seven-day, approximately 750km challenge now starts in Graaff-Reinet, immersing riders directly into the iconic Karoo landscape from the very first day.
Over seven stages, riders traverse rugged gravel backroads, conquer mountain passes and soak up ever-changing scenery, from arid semi-desert to coastal and bushveld vistas, before the race culminates once again at Shamwari.
Each night, participants rest in specially supported Burn Camps, where the camaraderie grows as they share stories under the stars.
Whether you're chasing personal goals or looking for a true gravel-bike adventure, the 2026 Nedbank Gravel Burn offers a bold mix of endurance, camaraderie and South African storytelling.
With entries now open and limited places expected to fill fast, riders are encouraged to secure their spot soon and start preparing for an unforgettable week on the gravel.
