It was a large crowd who witnessed Matthys Beukes and Gert Heyns (Scott Factory Racing) become the first ever all South African team to win the final stage into Lourensford, the most sought after stage win of the race.
Placed sixth in the overall rankings, they are also the men's Absa African Jersey winners taking away the Burry Stander Memorial Trophy.
The women's Absa African Jersey winners were won by Ischen Stopforth and Yolande de Villiers (Sasol Racing), who also finished sixth in the women's category.
The Epic, also known as the Tour de France of mountain biking, covered a gruelling 718km route that included 14 850m of climbing.
With aspiring amateur and professional mountain bikers from around the world competing through some of the most magnificent scenery and toughest mountain passes to make this the most televised mountain bike stage race in the world.
But in the end all the riders who have finished the race deserve to be called winners.
