GEORGE NEWS - The sexual offences case against a former George politician was postponed in the George Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 4 August for further investigation and the outstanding DNA analysis results.
The accused faces charges under the Sexual Offences Act, including the alleged sexual grooming of a minor, as well as a charge relating to the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material. He has not yet entered a plea.

The accused, who was granted bail earlier this year, appeared neatly dressed in a grey jacket and trousers.
He appeared noticeably more relaxed than during his previous court appearances, when he was being held in custody. Shortly after the proceedings concluded, he walked to his vehicle and drove away.
As part of his bail conditions, the accused is permitted to reside only in Cape Town and may travel only with the permission of the investigating officer. He lives and works in Cape Town as a Patriotic Alliance (PA) member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
Before that, he spent many years in the political arena in George.
During the proceedings, the accused's attorney, Winston Jansen, made it clear that the defence was dissatisfied with the delay in the case.
It had also become apparent in court that his client's cellphone, which had been handed to investigators over a month ago, would only now be sent for forensic examination.
Jansen said it would be premature to lodge a formal objection at this stage, but his concern was noted.
