GEORGE NEWS - Kingsley Private School held their annual sport day at Colnera Estate in Herold's Bay where 55 new athletes took part in the laser run events.
Among the participants was a special-needs athlete who took part with the support of her friends.
Kerri O' Loughlin is one brave young girl with the heart of a lion. She has difficulty seeing and walking, but this didn't stop her from finishing her race and earning her own medal and finisher's goody bag.
It was a humbling experience for the committee of Eden MPA (Modern Pentathlon Association), who hosted this special event.
The committee thanked DCAS (Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport) and the Eden Sport Council for their financial support and sponsoring the medals, Dis-Chem for sponsoring the water bottles and energy bars, Sportsmans Warehouse for the bags and Hisense for the pens and wrist bands.
With these generous sponsorships, each child was able to take home an awesome goody bag in memory of the event.
The next biathle event will take place at Santos Beach in Mossel Bay on Sunday 4 May at 15:00. It costs R30 to participate.
