With only 8 days to go until the Tekkie Town Tournament, the u.12 teams were all desperate to get some momentum in preparation for the tournament.
The first game of the day was a close and combative game between Vipers and Lions with both teams tackling hard and not giving the opponents a second to breathe. It was Lions that had a little more determination to win this tight match with the final score 2-1.
The second game of the day saw 7 Stars take on Cobras with Stars keeping up their current form. They won the game 4-0.
The next game was between season champions Leopards and last year's champions, Falcons. After a close start Leopards returned to play the style of football that has been so successful for them and won 4-0.
The last game of the day was between Ramaposa and Rangers. Ramaposa, getting stronger with every game, won 3-1.
In the u.15 division the first game was between season champions Eagles and Ramaposa. Eagles managed to edge Ramaposa 2-0 due to good possession of the ball and some clinical finishing.
The second game of the day was between Falcons and Super Strikers which was a closely fought game between two evenly matched teams. Falcons won with the final score 2-1.
The last game of the day was between 7 Stars and Phoenix in an incredible match, which saw Stars take a commanding lead in the game by scoring 4 early goals. The Phoenix team looked dead and buried, but the sheer will to keep fighting and not to be beaten kept them alive, and the final score was 4-4.
The final games of George United Football Club season will be held at Rooi Rivier on Saturday - the excitement will be at fever pitch.
