SOCCER NEWS - Paris United delivered a crucial boost to their survival hopes with a surprise 3-1 victory over Simunye FC in a Safa Eden Regional Men's League clash at Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday 25 April.
Having struggled for consistency since their promotion, Paris United entered the fixture under pressure near the bottom of the table.
Simunye FC made the brighter start, dictating the tempo from midfield and breaking forward with intent. Their early dominance paid off when Nandile Jacobs opened the scoring inside 15 minutes, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Paris United responded with purpose, finding momentum down the left flank. Liyema Tukwayo levelled matters at 1-1 after a well-worked move, before continuing his standout performance with a second goal to put his side ahead.
Simunye were forced onto the back foot as Paris United pressed for control, and Thamsanqa Kebe extended the lead to 3-1 before the break, finishing confidently past Nkosikhona Moss.
The second half saw Paris United maintain their composure, controlling possession and limiting Simunye's attacking threats.
Despite efforts from the home side to mount a comeback, no further goals were added as the visitors secured a vital win.
After the match, brace-scorer Tukwayo expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the challenge of facing Simunye and his delight at contributing two decisive goals.
