SOCCER NEWS - The Nelson Mandela University team, Madibaz, went down 2-1 against Simunye in their regional league fixture last Saturday at the Lawaaikamp Stadium in George.
With 16 points, Simunye is occupying the top position on the log table after seven fixtures, while the students are battling to reach the top eight positions.
Madibaz kicked off and kept up a fast pace. Their first kick for the goal, by Seabeng Kale, was denied by Simunye goalkeeper Nkosikhona Moss. A powerful shot by Bukho Makhele of Simunye went over the woodwork.

The students kept their shape going forward into the box and Luyolo Mlungwana netted the first goal of the game, making it 1-0. Simunye were chasing their equalising goal, but they were still trailing 1-0 into the break.
The second half saw a dominant Simunye turning on the pressure, but the students initially remained solid at the back line.
Pule Mosoa of Simunye equalised the score from a set piece just outside the box. Both teams were now attacking.
Buhle Makhele extended Simunye's lead to 2-1 with a powerful header from a corner kick, clinching the win for Simunye who collected maximum points at home.
