SOCCER NEWS - Jonga High School's U19 side booked their place in the regional finals of the Kay Motsepe Schools Cup after edging out the defending champions, George Royal Academy, 1-0 in a tightly contested clash at the Jonga High sports field on Tuesday 28 April.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Lisakhanya Ntlanti produced a stunning long-range strike from a free kick, catching the goalkeeper off guard to seal the victory for the hosts.
George Royal Academy started strongly, dictating the tempo and pushing forward in search of an early breakthrough.
Jonga High, however, remained composed, and both teams displayed sharp passing, creating chances in an entertaining first half that ended goalless.
After the break, Jonga High capitalised on home-ground advantage, attacking more aggressively down the flanks.
George Royal Academy defenders Sange Manzi and Sakhe Myali worked tirelessly to close gaps at the back, while Jonga's Chulumanco Njili and Sanezo Baliti led the line in search of an opener.
Ntlanti's late goal ultimately proved decisive. Despite a spirited attempt from the Academy to find an equaliser, Jonga High held firm to secure a memorable win and progression to the regional stage.
