SOCCER NEWS - The Black Cats women’s team delivered a commanding performance last Thursday afternoon, thrashing Olympia School’s women 13-1 in a one-sided friendly encounter at Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Fresh from an emphatic 8-1 win over Burning Fire, the in-form development side continued their scoring streak with a display of attacking football and relentless pressure.
Yolanda George opened the scoring within the first five minutes, setting the tone for what would become a long afternoon for Olympia.
The Black Cats dominated proceedings throughout the first half, controlling possession and winning key battles across the pitch. By half-time, they had already built a comfortable 5-0 lead.
The second half brought more of the same as the hosts intensified their attacking play. Wave after wave of pressure resulted in eight additional goals. Olympia managed a consolation strike, but it did little to dent the Black Cats’ authority on the day.
Captain Funeke Caba has encouraged more young women to join the team as they prepare for the upcoming Regional Women’s League season, emphasising the club’s focus on development and opportunity.
Head coach Whayn Windwaai also called on local stakeholders to support the initiative, noting that many players are still in school and come from communities across George. He stressed that football is playing a vital role in shaping lives and providing positive pathways for young women.
