GEORGE NEWS - Herold Primary School has made an urgent appeal to the public for assistance after one of its school buses was recently taken out of service, leaving 14 learners without reliable transport.
The bus currently transports learners daily between George and the school.
With the vehicle no longer operational, the school says the affected learners will face significant challenges in getting to school from the start of the next term.
As a small rural school, Herold Primary does not have the financial capacity to replace the bus on its own and is asking alumni, parents, businesses and the wider community for support.
The school is appealing not only for donations, but also for potential sponsors who may be able to assist with the purchase of a replacement vehicle or contribute towards transport solutions.
Supporters are encouraged to consider sponsorship opportunities, which include branding on the school bus, promotion through the school’s social media platforms, recognition on the school sponsor board, and Section 18A tax certificates for qualifying donations.
“We are urgently asking the community to assist where possible. Every share, referral and contribution brings us closer to ensuring that these learners can continue their education safely and consistently,” said the school’s principal, Bianca Smith.
The school expressed its gratitude to all those willing to support the initiative, adding that no learner’s education should be compromised due to a lack of transport.
