NATIONAL NEWS - President Jacob Zuma has called on the United Nations General Assembly to follow the example of former ANC leader Oliver Tambo, who would’ve turned 100 this year.
Zuma addressed the UN general debate on Wednesday in New York as part of the more than 100 world leaders attending the annual event.
He referred to Oliver Reginald Tambo, whose centenary birthday would have been celebrated this year, as he reiterated support for Palestinians and people of the occupied Western Sahara.
He took issue with US President Donald Trump's reversal of an Obama-era lifting of the Cuba embargo.
Zuma ended his speech with more words from a speech Tambo gave in the 1970s, urging all to live as neighbours in equality and mutual respect.
