Essentially previewing the next generation Polo Sedan, and indeed riding on the same MQB platform, the Virtus R-Line drops the Brazilian spec Polo's front end clip for that of the European model, but adds restyled front bumper, R-Line badge on the grille, different side skirts, a slightly more pronounced integrated boot spoiler and Golf R inspired blue paint finish.

In standard form, the Virtus will for now be offered with a single engine option, a 1.0-litre TSI producing 85 kW when running on petrol or 95 kW when powered by ethanol, and 200 Nm of torque. A six-speed Tiptronic is the sole transmission option available, although a 87 kW / 162 Nm normally aspirated 1.6-litre model mated to a five-speed manual 'box will be added at a later stage.

Although the R-Line is more than likely expected to remain a render, it remains to be seen whether the Virtus will indeed debut alongside the new Polo hatch in South Africa next year.
