ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The Carpe Musicam! orchestra and choir presents its July concert series, Winter with Carpe Musicam!, with performances across the Garden Route.
The concerts will take place at the Sedgefield DR Church tomorrow, Sunday 5 July (15:00), at the Outeniqua High School Hall on Friday 10 July (19:00), and at the Mossel Bay Curro School Hall on Sunday 12 July (15:00).
The programme explores music inspired by the winter season, featuring a creative mix of classical and popular works.
Audiences may look forward to Shostakovich's short work composed as a bet, a rock-inspired version of Vivaldi's "Winter", nostalgic hits from The Mamas and the Papas, Linda Ronstadt and David Essex, as well as the delicate "Somewhere in My Memory" from the famous family film Home Alone.
A special feature will also showcase the rich sound of the orchestra's tuba trio.
Carpe Musicam!'s ensemble includes more than 80 performers, many of whom are schoolgoing musicians gaining valuable orchestral and choral experience alongside their studies. Tickets are available at www.carpemusicam.co.za or at the door.
