While no exterior or interior changes have been made, the Grandland X’s 1.6-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine has been revised to conform to Euro 6d-Temp emissions requirements, meaning a power bump from 121kW to 133kW with torque going up by 10Nm to 250Nm.

Now able to go from 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 222km/h, the motor comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox in place of the old six-speed auto ‘box, with claimed fuel consumption as per the new WLTP regulations being pegged at 7.1-litres/100km.

At present, it remains to be seen if local models would benefit from the same upgrades, although Opel has confirmed that a diesel engine, possibly the same 130kW/400Nm 2.0-litre mill offered in Europe and in sister marque Peugeot’s 3008, would be added next year.

With Opel and UK sister brand Vauxhall announcing that it would skip the Paris Motor Show next month, pricing for the updated Grandland X will only be revealed at a later stage.
